Morning Assembly by the Department of English

At Namrup College, the morning assembly has always been a meaningful space for reflection, motivation, and collective energy. Each department takes turns conducting the assembly for three consecutive days. Our students put their hearts into organizing and presenting thoughtful programmes each morning. The assemblies begin with the usual prayer and news reading, followed by short speeches, inspiring quotes, and creative presentations. The themes chosen by the students touch upon personal growth, social awareness, and the importance of empathy and environmental consciousness. What makes these assemblies special is the enthusiasm and confidence of the students who come forward to speak and perform. Departmental Seminar

The Department of English, Namrup College, organised a departmental seminar on 25th September, 2025 for its major students. The seminar brought together students from the 1st, 3rd, and 5th semesters , who presented their papers with well-prepared PowerPoint slides. Apart from earning scores for their academic course, the seminar served as a valuable learning experience. It helped students enhance their research, presentation, and critical thinking skills. They Engaged with diverse literary topics which encouraged them to explore texts more deeply, articulate their ideas clearly, and respond to questions with confidence. The seminar also created an interactive academic atmosphere where students learned from one another’s perspectives. Observation of International Literacy Day

Department of English Namrup College in collaboration with IQAC observed International Literacy Day on 8th September, 2025. The programme aimed at creating awareness about the importance of literacy in the present digital age. Dr. Jayanta Sonowal, Coordinator IQAC was invited as the resource person for the occasion who delivered a thought provoking lecture on the theme of this year "Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era"

Orientation Programme

 On 01/08/2025, department of English organised a departmental Orientation programme for its newly admitted major students. The students were acquainted with the course syllabus and made them aware about the course outcome. The department formally welcomed the students and shared with them the necessary information and rules of the institution.

Observation of World Poetry Day

 The department of English Namrup College observed World Poetry Day on 21st March,2025 under the aegis of ELLA. On this occasion, a on the spot poem writing competition was held among the students. Around 20 students from different departments participated in the competition. The winners were awarded with appreciation certificates and medals in the morning assembly of the next day.

Book Release

  The department of English, Namrup College published a research based book with ISBN entitled "Interrogations: Exploring New Directions in Marginal Literatures". The book contains 15 research articles by faculties and research scholars from various institutions across the state. It was published from AuthorsPress, a reputed academic publishing house in New Delhi. The book was released on 11th February, 2025 in the presence of Principal, Namrup College, vice-principal, IQAC coordinator and assistant co-ordinator and faculty members of the department.
